There, Media Matrix would have the challenge of producing, coordinating, supporting, and helping
to execute the annual Covance Global Town Hall meeting, a live satellite broadcast. This year, the program was originating from the Covance Early Development Business Unit headquartered in Madison, selected as the originating site as they received the coveted award for Business Unit of
the Year in 2004. This annual telecast has been designed to carry the impact and message of Covance’s plans for the year to all of their 7,000 employees around the world. This includes the placement of satellite trucks at Covance facilities throughout the US and Europe, as well as a web version to other sites around the world. In addition to making the live broadcast happen, Media Matrix was also tasked with the usual spectrum of supporting services—direction, coordination, video production, and editing. Working smoothly and efficiently, Media Matrix had all the diverse media elements in place and ready to go in time for the April 7 telecast. As Covance attendees and meeting planners have come to expect, this event too was a complete success. Not only were the attendees and viewers impressed and motivated by the messages they received from Covance management, but the scope of the event itself helped to emphasize the truly global nature of Covance business, with research efforts that touch people’s lives all over the world.
When the April 7 event ended, Media Matrix had pulled off the “triple play” with skill and technical excellence—and had emphatically answered the question of whether a top-quality business communications specialist could produce three different events, in three different venues, in
such a tight timeframe—all with the same degree of excellence. Now, looking toward the future,
only one question remains—what will Media Matrix and Covance do for an encore?
