The 17th Annual National Fiber Optics Engineers
Conference (NFOEC) at the BaltimoreConvention Center in 2001 was more than a showcase for new technology and fast-growing communications firms. It was also a great accomplishment—in one of their most exciting opportunities yet—for Media Matrix and their full-service capabilities. The NFOEC sponsor, Telcordia Technologies, Inc., needed help to pull together what shaped up as the organization's largest and most complex trade show and conference ever. To meet their objectives for this milestone event, they turned to the show management and production capabilities of Media Matrix.

Media Matrix had total responsibility for the exhibit and sponsorship programs, pre-convention and on-site logistical management, production of all technical educational sessions and workshops,

and marketing of exhibit space for the following years' NFOEC event. "Practically everything to do with this event, we had a hand in," said Vice President and Show Management Division General Manager Nick Montana.

Montana added, "We developed many Internet and electronic based tools to market, sell and manage the various programs. For example, we have gone totally paperless—all communications, confirmations and invoicing has been done electronically. We also developed websites to market and sell booth and sponsorship opportunities, and made the system turnkey and interactive. This included photos, text descriptions and request forms for industry vendor participation."
